Discord PFP Maker

On Discord your avatar appears beside every message you send, in member lists and in voice channels. It is always a circle and nearly always small. A picture that looks great full size can turn into a blur at that scale.

This page opens on the Background tab, since the background is most of what people see in a small circle. Pick it first, then build a face that contrasts with it.

Designing for a small circle

Discord cuts the corners off your image. Plan for that.

• Keep the face central. The portrait crop here already centers it.
• Watch tall items. A Witch hat, Bunny ears or a Halo can touch the edge of the circle. Check before you settle on one.
• Choose a solid or simple background. Solid, Gradient and Sunburst stay clear when small. Dots and Stars turn to noise.
• Use a color no one else in the server uses. People find you in a busy chat by color first.

Dark mode and light mode

Most people use Discord in dark mode, so a very dark background makes your avatar melt into the app. A mid-tone or bright background keeps the circle visible on both themes. If you like dark colors, put them on the character and keep the background lighter.

Server and role avatars

Discord lets you use a different avatar in different servers on some plans. Build your main avatar, press Copy link, then open the link and change only the background color or the accessory for each community. The character stays the same and the variant shows where you are.
